Projects Desmoronado Property
The first recorded mining activity in Real de Desmoronado was between 1850 and 1910 when the Agraz-Basán mining company processed about 7 tons/day of high-grade oxide Ag-Au ores. In the 1960's, Zimapan, S.A. de C.V. (a subsidiary of Industrias Peñoles) acquired claims in Desmoronado. Between 1967 and 1973, the Company produced 266,500 tons of ore grading 13.6% Zn, 2.6% Pb, 0.97% Cu, 154 g/t Ag and 1 g/t Au from an underground mine at Amaltea. Concurrent with the mining operations, an exploration drilling campaign consisting of 1938.45 meters in 37 small-diameter core holes was completed. In 1975, Ing. E. Rocha completed an initial reserve calculation for the San Rafael orebody based on 23 intersections. The calculation implied that San Rafael was too small to merit installing a mill at the Cuatro Minas site, and the project was put on hold. Zimapan's efforts were then directed at the Cuale Camp.

In 1989, ore reserves at Cuale were largely depleted, and Zimapan re-visited Cuatro Minas with a second campaign of drilling for a total of 2884.5 meters completed between 1989 and 1991. Results for both drilling campaigns are in Table 1, and a plan map of the drill holes (1500 meter level plan) is in Fig. 2.

Based on the new data, an updated reserve was calculated in 1990 (Table 2).

Due to low metal prices and poor market conditions, the claims were allowed to lapse, and ZIM acquired the entire Desmoronado play by staking the Almatea Property in 2004.

Based on regional stream sediment sample results (Fig. 5), there is considerable mineral potential along strike to the northeast of the existing workings. While ZIM has not fully tested this area, historic sampling by the MMAJ northeast of Cuatro Minas returned an average result of 13.8 ppm Ag, 94 ppm Cu 219 ppm Pb and 492 ppm Zn in six contiguous drainage basins over a strike length of 2 km to the northeast. ZIM's best result is from a creek draining Cerro Bola which returned results of 856 ppm Cu, 1466 ppm Pb, 1199 ppm Zn, 0.9 ppm Ag, 64 ppb Au, 84 ppm As, 11.4 ppm Sb, 676 ppm Ba and 1700 ppb Hg (sample 65676). ZIM has not yet confirmed the MMAJ anomaly to the northeast.
